Structured support for qualitative PhD researchers - without the guesswork

Doing a PhD alone is tough.

Doing a qualitative PhD alone?

That can feel especially heavy.

You might be:

  • staring at transcripts wondering what actually counts as “analysis”

  • reading another methodology paper and thinking “I still don’t quite get this”

  • trying to turn messy data into something coherent

  • quietly wondering whether everyone else has figured something out that you haven’t

This is where Momentum comes in.

What Momentum actually is

Momentum is a digital membership for PhD students, built around a structured library of educational resources, short training sessions, and guided academic support materials.

It’s designed to help you:

  • understand what qualitative research actually looks like in practice

  • identify your next step

  • and keep moving forward consistently

All content is designed for independent use. You work through materials at your own pace, applying them directly to your own research.

What you get inside

A structured resource library

A growing collection of:

  • short, focused masterclasses (10–15 minutes)

  • practical guidance on qualitative research and writing

  • frameworks and explanations to help you move from confusion → clarity

These are pre-recorded, self-serve educational resources you can return to whenever you need.

Weekly group sessions

You’ll also have access to:

  • live co-writing sessions

  • group Q&A sessions

These are group-based sessions only - designed to support general learning and momentum.

They are not personalised advice or one-to-one support.

A member space

Momentum includes access to a private member platform where you can:

  • share progress

  • ask questions

  • learn alongside others

This space exists to support engagement with the learning materials, not as a standalone service.

What Momentum helps you do

Momentum helps you move from:

“I don’t know if I’m doing this right” → “I understand what I’m doing, and I can keep going”

From:

“I’m stuck in my data / writing” → “I know my next step”

From:

“I feel like I’m the only one struggling” → “I’m part of a serious, focused research environment”

What Momentum is not

To be clear:

Momentum is not:

  • one-to-one supervision

  • coaching or consulting

  • personalised academic feedback

  • a counselling or mental health service

  • a done-for-you or ghostwriting service

All content is educational and designed to support independent academic work.

Who it’s for

Momentum is designed primarily for qualitative PhD researchers who:

  • feel unsure what “good” qualitative work actually looks like

  • are trying to make sense of messy data

  • struggle to move from description to analysis

  • want structure, clarity, and steady progress

A final note

Momentum won’t write your thesis for you.

But it will give you:

  • structure

  • clarity

  • and a way to keep moving forward

And for most PhD students, that’s the difference between staying stuck… and finishing.

Membership does not give you access to our other products such as the PhD Survival Guides. These are completely separate from the membership.
